Branding your blog can seem like a daunting feat at first, I know. But in this blog post about branding your blog, we break down branding your blog one step at a time. The first mistake I see bloggers make is they start their blog and don’t even know what it is about or have a clear vision.
First impressions are everything, right?! When someone comes to your profile and clicks around the first thing they notice is the VISUALS aka your brand! Is your theme cohesive or is it confusing? Or do you not know? Are you reading this and saying omg Christy I have no idea what you’re talking about. Well, if you are it is okay!
Thats what this post is here for your instagram grid can be organized however you want, because it is showcasing your creative side and is your online resume.
First things first, you should have a consistent theme of colors or a consistent theme of content.
Example 1: CONTENT
If you are say let’s use a food blogger, all of your pictures should be of food. Some of you are saying duh but seriously- people get confused!
This is a theme where the CONTENT is consistent. The editing style does not matter because it is pictures of food (or the same picture of _____) everytime.
Example 2: Editing Style
Editing style involves your colors! While this may be challenging at first, I invite you to decide what your 3 main colors are in your account and stick to those! Choose a filter and STICK WITH IT! Yes, you may want to venture out and try other ones but this is how your account will GROW! It will attract those eyes that love your colors and content all together.
As you can see in the above photos from @jeremyaustiin, his three colors are blue, green and tan. These three photos are consistent in every photo and if not in every photo, in the majority of photos. This lets his audience know his vibe and better understand his content.
Example 3: Layout
Layout is how your photos are strategically placed on your IG grid! Take a look at mine below. I post a quote every 3rd post because I want those quote to motivate my followers and want the first time viewers to feel inspired every time they visit my page.
If you notice, while my photos are strategically placed, my editing is also consistent. I rotate about 3 different edits around in pictures which creates a cultivated theme. Blues are seen in every single one of my pictures (my favorite color, duh).
It is so important to understand the THEME you want on instagram! Your visuals are your FIRST IMPRESSION. And you want it to be a good one 🙂
Below are some more mood boards which can help you plan (canva) out your future feed and stay consistent. Enjoy and happy planning!
